If there was one artist who captured the attention of everyone who attended Gonerfest last year, it was probably this guy:
Reverend John Wilkins is back in Memphis and playing the Hi-tone (1913 Poplar Ave.) tonight! Wilkins is the son of legendary blues and gospel singer Robert Wilkins. His album Can’t Hurry God was released last year by Big Legal Mess Records (the same label that released Jack Oblivian’s Rat City and John Paul Keith’s The Man That Time Forgot). If you’re in the mood for some gospel and blues tonight, this is the show you want to be at. Jack Oblivian and the Tennessee Tearjerkers will be headlining this show (after all the Reverend has to get up early and preach tomorrow morning for Easter). Cover is $8 and this show is 18 and up. If you see Reverend Wilkins perform tonight, I’m pretty sure that God will excuse you from missing church tomorrow morning;-)
