Happy Thursday! Looking for some trouble to get into tonight?
Dallas, Texas’ True Widow is playing the Hi-tone (1913 Poplar Ave.) tonight, October 27th. The band describes their sound as “stonegaze” and really that is an apropos description. Elements of shoegaze, slowcore and stoner rock are prevelant in their work. Imagine some sort of weird hybrid between My Bloody Valentine, Low, and Queens of the Stone Age and you have True Widow.
This show is $7 and 18 and up.
Tomorrow night Tony Lamoureux of TNT Burlesque’s alter ego Jason Winstead will be celebrating his birthday at Murphy’s (1589 Madison Ave.). If you’re one of those folks who needs a weekly dose of Richard James and the Special Riders, then this is where you should be Friday night! Also performing will be the Burning Sands. If you’ve been to any of the shows where RJ and the Special Riders and Burning Sands have played before, then you know it might be a good idea to clear your schedule for Saturday morning. This show is $5 and 21 and up.
If you’d like to see The Angel Sluts in their most natural element, then head to Murphy’s Saturday night for their annual Halloween show. In addition to the Sluts, Anniston, Alabama surf rockers Kill, Baby… Kill!, and locals Modern Convenience, Tanks, The Glory Holes, and Swamp Donkey will all be playing. This show will start at 9:00 (after all there are six bands playing), and is $5, 21 and up.
Hope to see you all out this weekend.
